Ethan has started to eat foods, as well as his milk, But instead of feeding him purées Jade is doing the baby led feeding. Where she puts it on his tray and he picks what he wants and how much he wants. I made home made fish fingers and they are going down a treat.

I think he has had enough now , His milk will be next.๐Ÿ‘โ˜บ๏ธ

On he is gorgeous linda , this must be the way they do it now but it can get messy, I thought Ruth was mad when she started with Brianna ๐Ÿ˜ฌ ๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes it seems mad to me as well, but that is the way they do it, mind you Ethan will try every thing he is not fussy. There is a plastic Matt under the high chair , but a big clean up job when he has finished too frustrating for me . Here he is eating a blue berry pancake.

More washing. ๐Ÿ˜

I'm confused, how else would you feed them?
This is how I fed my children 30 years ago. I don't know of any other way. If they start solids before they sit up properly you have to spoon feed them yourself but that is just the puree first foods stuff that is mostly milk.

Anyway both children look cute as buttons, I love Brianna with her spaghetti bolognaise, my oldest son loved that and Ethan with his pancake. Those plastic bibs with arms in them are perfect for those foods ๐Ÿ˜

Brianna is well in to this type of feeding, we get the funny faces to begin with but on the next try Ethan decides he likes the new texture and down it goes. When itโ€™s sloppy food jade dips the spoon in the food and Ethan grabs the spoon with two hands and sucks it off the spoon. Being involved with his hands keeps him interested in eating. We never had this idea 35 and 45 years ago it was trying to stay clean with you holding the food on a spoon and playing aeroplanes trying to get it in there mouth.

This way ethan tryโ€™s alsorts of textures and tastes , well done Ruth and Brianna any method depends on the baby what suits one doesnโ€™t suit another.

Oh ok, that's interesting, I don't think I could have spoon fed mine solid food they would have just grabbed it off the spoon with their hands anyway. I had big babies so they were always hungry. I guess i have seen people do the aeroplane thing I suppose I just thought they were in a hurry.

One great thing about them feeding themselves in this way is you can pull the high chair up to the family dinner table so they are part of family dinner time and mom can actually eat her own food, because when you're feeding milk how many times do you need to feed the baby right at dinner time and end up with cold food eating alone.
