Hello every one, we have sunshine, and I have been busy, I cracked open my cobnuts and and roasted them than I made them in to hazel nut brittle froze them ready for Christmas. Does any one remember virol , back in the 1950’s. We used to get it from the NHS clinic it tasted of toffee I used to Love it.. Well wanting a taste of nostalgia I thought I would try and find it. Virol was withdrawn from the shops in 1970, they now call it potters malt extract with cod liver oil. I just got some in the post tried it and it tastes as lovely as I remember it.

I have nearly finished knitting my teddy and waiting on more toy stuffing. Which should come today. We picked three big boxes of eating apple which I have too process and freeze for apple pies and crumble. Today’s dinner is a lovely beef casserole cabbage and potatoes . I hope every one is keeping safe and crafting . Talk later. Linda x

Hi Linda it’s nice to see nostalgic items , what benefits did we get from malt ? I don’t remember,
You have been busy.

I made a veg casserole Today using carrots , cauliflower , broccoli and baby potatoes I poured cheese sauce over cooked veg then added grated cheese and into oven , it was delicious

Dog going to vet in morning to have a wart Removed and her teeth scaled and polished , she won’t be happy poor thing .
I have groceries being delivered tomorrow. It was sunny till lunch time here so got laundry dried , then cloudy skies appeared

I have a very sore hand think it’s arthritis, painful to move fingers , I felt it whilst knitting bear , so he is on hold , knitting completed yesterday but sewing up and stuffing still to do . Yours will be ready first Linda .

What does everyone think about this second wave of the virus ,I feel another lockdown is necessary and sooner rather than later . 😷

Hope your enjoying your crafting and remember share pics ,
Stay alert and safe

Morning , glad your weekend was good Lisa , shame nowhere to walk dogs though , my nuala Is at the vet, he phoned me to say the blood test showed a slight decrease in liver function so she is on a drip as a precaution .

I have parsley in dehydrator today and some tomatoes , I am delighted with the convenience of having dried vegetables ready to use , cooking made easy . Tonight I am putting sliced potatoes on to dry , I will blanch them first . Need more jars again 😳

Had groceries delivered this morning , so it’s all wiped down and stored away , and I have made macaroni and cheese for our meal , I put peas , sweet corn and green beans through it .

Your cross stitch is coming along great Lisa , is it maybe a tapestry , did you say it was wool instead of thread ?

Enjoy your day ladies and share what you are up to

Hello all, I answered your photo on your garden liz , it was the Scottish type thistle plant. I have been doing more cob nuts picking them from the ground the ones that have fallen off the tree that means they are fully ripe I dehusked them this morning so must crack them open . No squirrel around so have all the nuts to ourselves. So a good harvest from that tree. The next is the quince once they have gone yellow which should be about October they will get picked for making quince jelly. It’s the last day of summer today autumn according to the weather man is starting tomorrow. So got the washing done and dried out side. Will start making my second batch of nut brittle tomorrow, so this afternoon is sitting down and carrying on with knitting the teddy. I like also watching escape to the country which starts in a minute, so better go talk later. Linda x

Morning all, it’s well and truly not summer any more today. We have rain and heavy at that, We havnt had rain in weeks and it’s very welcome for the garden. They say it will be sunny this afternoon so there is that to look for ward too. My teddy has already been stuffed and sewn up except I still have one arm to do. Muzzle and ears. The scarf is made just need pressing and embroidery done on it and the trousers. I do all things back to front just as the mood takes me. Well I better get myself wrapped up and go out in the garden for a walk. This is a photo of Gabriel and Ethan they are together down in Wiltshire and longleye centre Parks not a soul in sight a cabin amongst the woods and bike rides.

Cob nuts all cracked , sun coming out at last. My sister is bringing down her puzzle she just finished it’s of all the uk wild birds , I am going to mod podge it and then frame it and hang it up in the craft room. I can’t bear it when some one breaks up a puzzle after taking all that time to do it. In exchange I gave her a big box of eating apples and a jar of malt extract (1950’s virol) for those of my age.. 😁. Right back to the nut brittle to make. Linda x
