Fab linda, keep us updated on progress, it seems to be a fast process
Does it require some effort to punch fabric ?

Liz it doesn’t take much effort to punch hessian, with my thick wool it’s like proding a rag rug but quicker, it’s a good idea to purchase a punch needle from Etsy , stitchonomy , has them for £10 it’s made of wood and steel and 6 sizes on it adjustable to a short loop for tapestry wool and a long loop for a thick wool, rug type surface. They come from Belgium and are quick to post. It’s like sewing once you get used to it and I achieved a lot in two hours. After an hour it’s best to get up and walk around my knees get stiff if I don’t, I found that out this morning, then go back to it. I have stopped now as dinner needs to be done. It is very addicted because it’s so quick, Here are two more pics of what I have achieved, will be back tonight to show extent of work for the day.

I prefer the long loop side first picture , the back side which you work on will probably be better after I get more used to it. Linda x

Yes liz I drew it and work from the back, When you punch the needle through the fabric you go through up to the wooden handle so when you bring the needle back up to do another stitch it leaves a long loop which is the right side . If you look on you tube for basic needle punch it shows you how you do it. At the moment I am doing inside the heart.

Punching the line of the drawing in dark brown and then filling in the space with another colour. There will be another phot when I have done a bit more. Linda x

Right so that last pic where you have started inside the circle is the back. And it's chunky on front due to the loop it leaves , I understand
I think. 😂

Glad you ordered a punch needle, if your supplier is in Nuneaton then you have found the right supplier, it’s best to buy British than from another country can you let me know the name of the company then I could have a look.

Your needle sounds like mine , have you got 14 count Aida my Aida should be here soon can’t wait to try it. Hessian is a bit of a pain but I am sticking with it, now I have started on it, not done anything of it to day as I have been on the I pad then my sister turns up, now I have dinner on the go but will do somepunching this afternoon and give you an up date. . What are you going to make once you get used to the technique. Linda x
