I have been crocheting a bunny teething ring, No pattern just saw a picture on Pinterest and copied that. Also made a crochet grab toy both for the new baby coming to the family.

They are lovely, I have seen them online also they seem perfect for a young baby to hold. What kind of yarn did you use, I always use cotton for babies, because I'm afraid of some yarns getting fluff inside a childs mouth but I am sure there must be other yarns I could use also. I don't much like crocheting with cotton the stitches don't seem to tighten as much as they should, though to be fair the cotton I use is quite thick. It's the only one I can find that comes in so many colours. I did make my shawl in a cotton blend that was lovely and not fluffy, but they only did it in a couple of colours so a bit useless for children's toys.

So any advice on yarns for babies would be appreciated, though I need to know the material rather than the brand name because I can't get most UK yarns here.

They are lovely Linda.

Sarah do a search for how to do yarn under in crochet.
It tightens up the sts and may help you

It's only that one brand of cotton I have problems with I think it might be Lily peaches and cream or sugar or something sweet like that. I just find the cotton very thick and there is no give to it because it's cotton and so it's a bit like trying to tie a knot in a thick rope it just doesn't want to stay tight. If I do use it I go down a few hook sizes but I don't enjoy crocheting with it so it would be good to find another baby safe yarn.

So the crochet cotton I use is DMC Petra no. 3. I only use no. 3. As the higher the number the thinner the cotton. All done with a 3 mm hook. And I buy the cotton from purplelinda, at £3.98 a hundred gram ball and all the colours under the sun. Really nice to work with if I can help with sending it to you just let me know.
